RVC “Hour of Code” Challenge

The Rock Valley College Computers and Information Systems (CIS) department will host an “Hour of Code” Challenge once a month through December 2017, as part of a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. The “Hour of Code” challenges are available in over 40 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104 are welcome. The ultimate national goal is to get 10 million people to try computer science for one hour.


  • Wednesday, September 6 from 5-6pm - Apples New "Hour of Code". All attendees will use iPad Mini and have fun learning Swift code!
  • Wednesday, October 4 from 5-6pm - Coding with Minecraft
  • Wednesday, November 1 from 5-6pm - Code with Anna and Elsa. Create a game about the movie Frozen (Updated)
  • Wednesday, December 6 from 5-6pm - User Choose from 10 App Tutorials
