Mass Communication at Rock Valley College

Mass Communication

Our Mass Communication program provides students who are interested in a career in the media industry with a unique opportunity to jump-start their education. With state of the art facilities and instructors who are working media professionals, our students learn in a hands-on environment that is as “real world” as it gets.

En PointeThe film En Pointe is the result of a three-year independent study project with Rock Valley College's  Mass Communication department.

The film, which follows a young girl who dreams of becoming a professional ballerina when she finds a flyer for ballet school, was directed by recent RVC Mass Com graduate Rosalie Devereaux Gaffney. Gaffney also shot and edited and was joined on the film by four other RVC Mass Com alumni, including, Sarah Forester (1st Assistant Director), Kyra Sparrow (1st Assistant Camera), Erica Parrish (Production Assistant), and Jade Slojkowski (Production Assistant).

Gaffney was featured in the Rockford Register Star in the November 4 story, Rock Valley College alum pursues film directing career.
