General Education Development (GED) and Basic Skills

Group of students in classThe Adult Education program offers, at no cost, GED instruction in both English and Spanish languages.  Basic skill instruction is also offered in Reading, Writing and Math at no cost.  The GED credential - whether called a diploma or certificate - is the most widely accepted and respected high school equivalency credential.

Participants must:

  • Be 17 years of age or older (17 year olds need a High School Withdrawal Letter to register)
  • Not be enrolled or required by state law to be enrolled in secondary school
  • Not have attained a high school diploma or equivalency 
  • Reside in the Rock Valley College District.

GED Enrollment

If you are ready to enroll in Adult Education classes, you must come to one of the following testing sessions. Classes are offered in basic skills, and preparation for High School Equivalency Exams (GED).

GED Online Course

Girl on computerThis online course is for students who want to prepare for the GED Exam using instruction through the Internet.  Students must be self disciplined, have competent computer skills, access to the Internet and an e-mail address.  Students are required to first pre-register and then attend one 3-hour enrollment session with the instructor.  Students must read at a 9th grade or higher level to enroll in this class.

GED Testing
