The Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) is a statewide agreement that allows transfer of a 37-41 credit General Education Core between participating Illinois institutions. Completion of this core at Rock Valley College assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an associate or bachelor's degree have been satisfied.
The IAI is in effect for RVC students who were first-time freshmen in the summer of 1998 and thereafter.
Rock Valley College is a strong supporter of the IAI. We believe it will go a long way to ending the confusion about what courses transfer to what other colleges. Students should visit the IAI Web site at for a complete list of participating Illinois colleges and universities, public and private.
CAS is a site for all Illinois students and academic advisors. CAS tells you not only what courses transfer, but how they count toward a specific bachelor's degree, too!
Rock Valley College guarantees that courses approved for transfer to another college will be honored either as program requirements or electives.
If transfer courses are not accepted after all provisions of the University Transfer Credit Guarantee are followed, the college will allow the student to take additional Rock Valley College courses up to the number of credits not transferred without tuition and fees.
