The Rock Valley College Mass Communication program provides those who are interested in a career in the media industry with a unique opportunity to jump-start their education. With state of the art facilities and instructors who are working media professionals, our students learn in a hands on environment that is as “real world” as it gets.
We offer instruction in audio production, sound design, television and motion picture production and teach post-production on industry standard equipment such as Avid, Final Cut Studio, and Pro-Tools. Students have access to our facilities 18 hours per day, 7 days a week and are allowed to check out a wide variety of equipment for their projects. Our facilities include a large multi-camera television studio, 7 post-production suites, Sony High Definition Video Cameras, and the areas only Steadicam unit. In addition to our facilities, students are able to obtain internships with local media outlets and with other industry professionals outside of the Rockford area.
Some of our alumni are already enjoying a great career in television and radio and others are at top schools such as Temple University, Columbia College, University of New Orleans, and Chapman University.
“When I transferred to Temple University I was miles ahead of my class mates, Rock Valley College made it possible for me to get into a top tier film school.” Jason Ippolito
