The Estelle M. Black Library at Rock Valley College features nearly 75,000 volumes and more than 650 periodicals, and access to the interlibrary loan system. It also features spaces for individual and group study, and if you get thirsty, there's a coffee shop in the lobby!
RVC competes in NJCAA Division III in men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, golf, baseball, softball, and men's and women's tennis. Not to brag, but we're pretty good at it. Our teams have won seven national championships and we have had more than 100 All-Americans.
The Honors Program at Rock Valley College is aimed at students who desire scholarly stimulation and invigorating study, who want to learn for the sake of learning, and who want a college degree that testifies to an exemplary course of studies in the tradition of the liberal arts and sciences as well as in select vocational/technical/career areas.
Honors Program offerings are intended to foster discussion, a mastery of content, critical thinking, and analysis. The program is designed to help develop student initiative and leadership skills. Various academic/curricular options combine with co-curricular and extracurricular honors activities to enhance the program. The emphasis is always on close interaction among honors faculty, honors students, and others involved in the Honors Program striving together toward the goals of academic and personal excellence.
Honors students will be asked to show an in-depth, critical understanding of course material through intense class discussion, group work, individual initiative, peer as well as faculty review and evaluation, and both independent and collaborative research.
In essence, the Honors Program at Rock Valley College is designed to empower a community of students and faculty who value, above all, academic challenge and excellence.
