Rock Valley College

About Our Office

Our History

The Office of Student Success is a newer addition to the Rock Valley College team. We know students face barriers every day that prevent them from achieving their academic goals, so in comes our office. The OSS team was established to help individual students and overall campus development of initiatives working toward increasing student persistence and retention.

Outreach We Do

OSS staff identifies students who might be facing situations that impact success and timely degree completion. By targeting outreach efforts, the Retention Specialists offer students access to personalized support and connection to resources for whatever challenges they may be facing. They also identify groups of students who are not actively pursuing continuing their degree and work to inform them of academic and financial policies to help them enroll in future semesters.

Once registration is open for an upcoming semester, we being tracking groups of students who show they should be registering for the new term, but have not yet done so. These groups could be: overall current students, first year students, students who have fully withdrawn from the current semester, students close to graduation, etc. Outreach may be in the form of a reminder email, a phone call, or flyers around campus. Look for these communications if you are wanting extra support taking the next steps toward completing your degree!
