RVC's Disability Support Services and Mass Communication departments have partnered to produce accessible captioned media in-house. It should be noted that there may be other ways to obtain captioned media (see FAQ link below).
Prior to submitting a request:
It is important to plan proactively. Due to the significant amount of time required to produced captioned media, requests should be submitted as early as possible. All requests will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis and assigned priority by DSS staff.
Making a Request: All requests must be done online (via the Request Media Captioning link on the DSS webpage.)
Request Follow-up: Following receipt of the request, the requester will be notified within 3-5 business days regarding approval status and next steps. This communication will include any appropriate information regarding recommendations, next steps, and the necessity of obtaining publisher permission to caption (if you did not publish/create the media yourself).
Estimated Completion Time & Rates: Typically videos up to 30 minutes in length will be completed within two (2) business weeks and will be billed at $3/minute. Processing time and rates for media over 30 minutes will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
