Request Video Captioning

In accordance with Federal Law, media that contains an audio component must include quality captions or subtitles to ensure equal access by individuals with disabilities. RVC’s Disability Support Services and Mass Communication departments have partnered to assist faculty and staff with obtaining quality captioned media. It should be noted that this is not the only option, others can be found in the FAQ link below.

Important Points for Consideration:

  1. It is important to plan proactively.  Requests should be submitted far enough in advance to ensure sufficient time to complete the production and review processes.

  2. Due to the significant amount of time required to produce captioned media, requests will be evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis and assigned priority by DSS staff.

  3. Following receipt of the request, the requester will be notified (within 3-5 business days) regarding approval status and next steps.

  4. Promptly respond to all communications regarding your request.  Adhering to the specified timeframes is crucial to keeping the process on schedule.

Estimated Completion Time & Rates:  Typically videos up to 30 minutes in length will be completed within two (2) business weeks and will be billed at $3/minute.  Processing time and rates for videos over 30 minutes will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
