The BIT coordinates a response to a student behavior/s of concern as reported by students, staff, or faculty. The BIT then follows up on the referral and responds appropriately.
The BIT process is coordinated through the Dean of Students Office at Rock Valley College.
To encourage a resourceful, supportive and safe environment for the RVC community.
Rock Valley College is concerned about the care, welfare, and safety of all of its students, faculty, and staff, and we are committed to providing an environment where individuals are free to work, learn, and teach, unencumbered by concerning, alarming, and/or distressed behaviors.
Please Note: The BIT process DOES NOT REPLACE faculty classroom management, disciplinary processes, and/or public safety responses to incidents. It provides one more opportunity to refer concerning, alarming and/or distressed behaviors. Referrals can be made online in-person, or by phone to (815) 921-4270.
You are not required to address any situation. If you have the skill set for addressing a BIT concern and you are able/willing to address the situation, you will need to complete a BIT report.
