Rock Valley College is teaming up with RVC Athletics for an evening of basketball and fundraising in support of the College’s RAISE (Rock Valley Academic Institute for Successful Employment) program.

RAISE is designed to address the unique learning needs of students who have intellectual disabilities by providing a comprehensive approach that includes career exploration, vocational and academic instruction, and opportunities for social integration.

Current RAISE students will be the guests of honor during the Wednesday, January 29 women’s and men’s basketball games versus Madison College. The evening will be dedicated to raising scholarship funds for the RAISE program as well as other RVC students with disabilities. The women’s game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets to attend the games are $5 with all ticket sale proceeds benefitting RAISE. Additional ways to support the program that night will include raffles or by purchasing a t-shirt. Cash and check donations for the program will also be graciously accepted. Anyone who wishes to support the program but is unable to attend the January 29 event can donate at any time online at rockvalleycollege.edu/donate (just choose the RAISE program for where to designate your donation).

About the RAISE Program

Since 2010, the RAISE program has provided an opportunity for young adults who have intellectual disabilities to participate in an inclusive post-secondary educational experience. Every individual deserves to live a rich, meaningful life and RAISE affords students the opportunity to gain crucial life and work readiness skills essential for competitive employment.
