Local Students to Engage in RVC’s Annual Sister to Sister Conference

The Rock Valley College Intercultural Student Services Department will host their annual Sister to Sister Conference on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rock Valley College’s Stenstrom Center, 4151 Samuelson Rd, Rockford, IL 61109.

The conference hopes to inspire young women to believe in themselves and know that they are strong enough to overcome any obstacle, past, present, and future, with the acknowledgment of their own self-worth.

Participating students will attend workshops on numerous topics led by prominent female leaders from the area, ending the day with a panel discussion (1:00-1:40 p.m.) in the commons area.

Presenters will include: Queen McMiller, Stephanie Washer, Vanessa Mendoza, Tomiko Ballard, Kristin Wilson, Claudia Seijas-Clark, Mattie Scott, Nancy Razon, Nichole Giovanni, Officer Patrice Turner, and Lien Vu.

The guest speaker during lunch (12 to 1 p.m.) will be City of Rockford Fire Department & Judge Gwyn Gulley.

Schools to be in attendance: Auburn High School, Beloit Turner High School, Belvidere High School, Belvidere North High School, Dundee-Crown High School, East High School, Guilford High School, Harlem High School, Jefferson High School, Regional High School, and Roosevelt Alternative High School.
