A Rock Valley College student organization, Students of Service (S.O.S), will be hosting a crisis fundraising event entitled Rock N’ Thru the Ages, which will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, at Stockyard Rock Burger Bar 908 W. Riverside Dr. Rockford, IL.

The fundraising event is an opportunity for the entire community to come together to help students in financial and emotional crisis.  The theme of the event is to pay tribute to every era of rock n’ roll.  Prime Time Live Band will be playing from 8:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. with rock n’ roll hits and Stockyard will be donating 15% of food and liquor sales to S.O.S.

The event will be reflective of the group’s mission to “Be the Light” during a time of chaos for students in need. Rock Valley College faculty member and lead advisor of S.O.S., Professor Amanda Kieper, commented on the event, saying “Many students drop out of college each semester because they can't afford food, books, transportation, or basic human needs. You may have been one of them. You may know someone in this situation now. We want to send out an SOS. We want to help.”

The event is free of charge and everyone is encouraged to pay tribute to their favorite rock n’ roll era or musician by dressing up or feel free to come as you are.

This particular event is the student group’s annual fall fundraising event.  The group’s scholarship event is held every spring semester.
