Local Students to Engage in RVC’s Annual Minority Male Leadership Conference

Approximately 200 students from eight local high schools and Rock Valley College will attend RVC’s annual Minority Male Leadership Conference, Friday, October 12, 2018 from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Rock Valley College’s Stenstrom Center for Career Education.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Think like a leader. Talk like a leader. Dress like a leader. Be a leader.” Conference attendees will attend breakout sessions on leadership topics led by a number of prominent area minority male leaders.

Other presenters include: Sam H. Morgan, Dean of Enrollment and Retention; Skip Gilbert, educational leader; Tommy Meeks, consultant for Winnebago County; Jorge Herrera, Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Rockford Band & Trust; Jason Smith, Dean of Students at Dundee-Crown High School; Elias Soria, Family Self-Sufficiency Specialist for Rockford Housing Authority; Andre Sayles, Patrol Lieutenant for the City of Beloit WI; Jason Johnson, proud owner of Torch Barber Shop, and creator of the TORCH Leadership; Brian Peterson, one of the Dean of Students at Dundee-Crown High School; Chuck Konkol, Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems at Rock Valley College; Brock Ashford, Manager of fine Jewelry at Masseys Inc.
