The library's instruction program engages students in the process of discovery, effective utilization, and ethical use of a wide variety of information sources in collections available through the Estelle M. Black Library at Rock Valley College. The instruction program is designed to meet Information Literacy Outcomes.

The Library Instruction Room (ERC 1308) is located on the First Floor of the Estelle M. Black Library and contains 22 workstations. It is an electronic classroom and training facility for Rock Valley College students, faculty, and staff.
When the classroom is not in use for a library instruction class or training session, other Rock Valley College personnel may use it on a first come, first served basis. For scheduling information, use this electronic form to reserve the Library Instruction Room or contact Chris Wasson, 815-921-4044.
The purpose of assessment is to determine whether library instruction effectively conveys concepts and methods needed to find appropriate sources to meet an information need.
