Amanda started her journey at Rock Valley College in 1994. Having failed to earn high enough scores on the ACT to go to a university, she decided to attend her community's college. She credits this as the best decision of her life. After developing strong relationships with RVC professors, she was inspired to earn a Master's degree in Communication so she could teach Public Speaking. She returned to RVC in 2001 as a full-time faculty member and recently celebrated 20 years of service in 2020.
During that time, she has earned an MSEd in Counseling, became certified to teach the Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Development course, and has completed the John Maxwell Certification program for teaching, training, and coaching. She previously worked in the counseling center at RVC and as a trainer at local companies through the Business & Professional Institute at RVC. She was honored as the Faculty of the Year award winner in 2018 for her excellence in teaching and for developing RVC Students of Service (SOS), a crisis management club dedicated to keeping the RVC Eagle's Nest Food Pantry fully stocked. In 2019, the club was recognized as Future Philanthropists by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Amanda feels most alive when she's helping others and expressing herself creatively.
David just celebrated his 14-year anniversary at RVC and is also a proud RVC alum. He is currently the Executive Director of Communications and Marketing and serves on the president's cabinet. He is also a co-advisor with Amanda for the Students of Service (SOS) student organization, and is a member of the college's PAIC (Promoting an Inclusive Community) committee. He was honored with the Employee of the Year award in 2016.
David loves telling RVC's stories and highlighting the people who make the college special, and he hopes the "Everything RVC" podcast will serve as another way to tell those stories. His favorite spot on campus is down by the creek where he loves to relax and read a good book on his lunch break.
David is an admitted "geek" who loves Star Wars, all things 80's, binge-watching sitcoms (Parks and Rec & The Office are his faves) , reading, and creative writing. He and his wife Becky have a three-year old son named Elliott.
