Board of Trustees

Leadership for Rock Valley College is provided by a seven-member board elected by citizens in our service area. Our board members live, work, and pay taxes in our district, and serve without pay except for mileage and expenses. The board is a cohesive, independent team that works well together to serve the best interests of you, our district taxpayers.


Due to the resignation of Trustee Jennifer Ray from the Rock Valley College Board of Trustees effective January 9, 2021, applications are being accepted to fill the vacant position until the next election cycle in April 2023.  Interested applicants should send their name, address, telephone number, email address and a brief statement on why they should be considered for this position to Rock Valley College, Attention: Ann Kerwitz, 3301 North Mulford Road, Rockford, IL, 61114 or via email to Ann Kerwitz at no later than 12:00 p.m. noon on Friday, January 22, 2021. When does the Board meet?

The Rock Valley College Board of Trustees meets monthly, usually on the fourth Tuesday of each month, for its regular meeting. There are also monthly meetings of the Board subcommittees (Finance, Operations, and Teaching, Learning, and Communications). The schedule for regular monthly meetings is posted and all meeting notices, including all subcommittee meetings, are also posted to the college website events calendar.

How do I know what will be discussed at the meetings?

Meeting materials, including agendas (for all meetings) and board packets (for regular monthly meetings), are posted on the website at least 48 hours prior to each meeting.

How can my voice be heard at these meetings?

Trustees welcome you to contact them at any time with questions or concerns. Contact information for each trustee can be found on our Board Members page.

If you wish to speak to the Board in-person at a scheduled meeting you must sign in to speak prior to the meeting being called to order.

  • You can find the sign-in sheet on a table located near the entrance to the room where the meeting is to be held.
  • Your request to speak to the Board shall include your name as well as the name of any other individuals who plan to address the board with you, the organization you and other speakers represent (if any), the topic to be addressed, and whether you will speak for or against the issue.
  • The public comment section of the agenda will be limited to a thirty (30) minute maximum, to be extended if necessary at the discretion of the Chairperson.
  • Presentations by any one individual shall be limited to three (3) minutes. Our full policy on recognition of visitors can be found in Section 18 of the Board Policy Manual.
