High School Equivalency & Adult Basic Education

When you are ready to commit to pursuing the next step in your education, our Adult Education program is ready to meet you where you are and help you achieve your goal of completing the High School Equivalency (GED). We also offer basic skill instruction in Reading, Writing and Math at no cost.

Rock Valley College is committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of its students and staff members. We have established precautionary safety guidelines to ensure everyone can complete the enrollment process in a secure manner.

Please read the following guidelines carefully, as these will be enforced by RVC staff:
 

  • Only applicants are allowed in the building - no guests are permitted.
  • If you feel sick or believe that you may have been in contact with someone infected by COVID-19 in the past 14 days, please do not attend a testing session.
  • Masks must be worn at all times while on campus. Masks must cover both the nose and the mouth.
  • It is expected that students will maintain a social distance of at least 6 feet at all times.
  • Student orientations and Adult Education classes will be offered at a distance.

This online course is for students who want to prepare for the High School Equivalency (GED) exam through online instruction. Please call (815) 921-2000 to learn more about how to enroll.

If you are currently unemployed and have been determined eligible to receive, are currently receiving or have recently exhausted unemployment benefits, please take a few minutes to see if you qualify for this class.

Ready to take the GED test?

Testing in this area is available through the Regional Office of Education in Loves Park. Eligible persons may test without taking classes.

Approximately 36.58% ($406,612) of total grant dollars to the Adult Education Program are provided through federal funding.
