Bridge Clinic of Rockford

Provides free limited medical care to people age 18 and older that has immediate medical needs but no insurance. No appointment necessary (except holiday weekends). Accessible building.

Epilepsy Education/Support

The Epilepsy Foundation provides educational classes and support groups for people and families with epilepsy. Youth council and art therapy for ages 15-25 are also available.

University of Illinois Chicago (UIC)

Any Illinois child from birth to age 21 may qualify no-cost for diagnostic services. Specialized Care for Children can help families arrange, coordinate, and pay for their child’s specialized medical treatment when the child has an eligible medical condition and certain financial criteria are met. To find out if your child is medically or financially eligible, please call the Rockford Office at (815) 987-7571 or toll free at (800) 382-8569.

Winnebago County Health Department

The Winnebago County Health Department provides services designed to protect, promote, and maintain the health of Winnebago County residents. They offer a variety of wellness and environmental health services to all Winnebago County residents. Programs include Case Management Services, Women Infants and Children (WIC), Travel Immunizations and other immunizations, Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinics, HIV/AID testing, and Family Planning Services. Environmental Health Services include investigation of housing and nuisance complaints and inspection of food service establishments, tanning spas, wells and septic. The lead program investigates lead base paint problems in residential housing. Additionally, the health department manages vital records such as birth and death certificates. Laboratory services include water testing and pollen counts.

Women, Infant, Children Program (WIC)

WIC provides nutritious supplemental foods, nutrition education and referrals to other health and social care services through the Winnebago Health Department.
  • Requirements: Must live in Winnebago County, meet Federal Income Guidelines, be pregnant or breastfeeding, infants and children up to the age of five.
  • First appointment necessities: Proof of income: medical card or two check stubs from each person living in the home. Proof of residency: a piece of mail with your address on it or a rent receipt. (Driver’s license or State Identification Card are not acceptable) For children: Birth certificate, or crib card from the hospital, immunization records. Pregnant: Proof of pregnancy.
