
The IT Network Technician ICAPS is a short-term program that helps prepare students for employment in the computer field as a computer user support specialist, help desk technician, user support specialist or computer technical support. Qualifying students earn a college certificate with academic support.
Program Includes:
- Academic support in the college courses (CIS, PCT)
- An additional academic support class that provides assistance with college coursework and assistance with increasing academic skills and English language skills
- Transition to college and help with any obstacles that arise
- Assistance with the financial aid process
- Books and materials that are provided at no cost
- Employability skills and assistance with job search
- Preparation for the CompTIA A+ and Network+ exams
Financial Assistance may be available
Target Population:
- Former or current adult education students
- GED graduates
- Prospective students whose first language is not English
- Prospective students who place into developmental reading on the ACCUPLACER placement test
- Prospective students attempting college for the second time
Fall Semester
- CIS 102 – Intro to Computers and Information Systems (3 credits)
- PCT 270 – Intro to UNIX/Linux (3 credits)
- Academic Support course
Spring Semester
- PCT 110 - Networking Essentials (3 credits)
- PCT 262 – A+ Essentials (3 credits)
- Academic Support course
Students can go to school part-time and earn a college certificate within a year. Classes are in the evenings on the main campus.
The ICAPS application is open for Fall Semester 2022.
