New Student Welcome Event Fall 2021

Thursday, June 17, 2021 9:00a.m.- 11:00a.m. 


8:30am - 9:00am - Check -In   
Students can arrive for check-in.  Students can purchase books at the bookstore if they schedule an appointment in advance.  Academic Advising and Financial Aid will be available for walk-ins during this time.  

Program Goals:
Students will learn about the event agenda and outcomes for the day. Include information about rest rooms, social distances practices and general expectations for the event. 

Welcome Dr. Howard Spearman, College President   
Welcome students to the RVC Campus Community and share our instructional values, mission, and commitment to their success.  

Student Affairs Must Know:  Dr. Patrick Peyer, Vice President of Student Affairs  
Students will learn about services offered in Student Affairs including a general understanding of the Advisor relationship, FERPA, mental health resources, COVID 19 reporting protocol.    

Campus Safety: Chief Rick Jenks
Student will learn about safety protocols at RVC and the role of Campus Police – Students will be directed to the frequently Asked questions webpage, Campus COVID protocol webpage or Campus Police website for additional information. 

Faculty Expectations:  Dr. Laura Constant, Science Faculty member   
Students will learn about classroom etiquette, effective faculty communication and general faculty expectation which can impact your college success. 

Ready for Day 1:  Amanda Zika
Students will learn what resources they need to be prepared for Virtual RVC College Courses this fall on day 1.  – The complete presentation on Ready for Day 1 is available on the RVC New Student Welcome webpage

Student  Groups:  
Student will learn about RVC through the student perspective and get to know their peers.  

Goose Chase Campus Tour :
Students will learn about the campus and have fun locating the buildings their classes are located. 

10:45am – 11:00am:  Resource Fair 
Students will learn about campus resource by talking with people from various offices on campus.  Students will be able to pick up gifts and gather information about Campus Employment, Financial Aid, and Mental Health services, Eagle Support, Library, and more.
