VA Education Benefits and COVID-19 FAQ’s
 

COVID-19 requires that I now take all my classes online.  How will my housing allowance be affected?
 

For the Spring Term, housing allowances will not be affected as enrollment status changed due to COVID-19.

My school will be open for the summer however we can only take courses online.  How will the housing allowance be determined?
 

Going forward, only classes that were converted to online classes can be certified as a resident or in class course. Classes that were originally scheduled to be online will continue to be certified as online.

I am taking developmental/remedial courses and the VA does not pay for online developmental courses. What is going to happen to my payments? Will this course be covered?  
 

If the change to an online format occurred due to COVID-19, there will be no change in your payments and the course will be covered. Going forward into Summer, if the course was originally offered as an online course, the VA will not cover this course. Consequently if the course was originally offered as a resident course but was converted to an online format due to COVID-19, the VA will cover the course.
