Rock Valley College
Rock Valley College offers many opportunities for high school students. We provide services and support to enroll you in college credit courses for Dual Credit*, Dual Enrollment**, and/or Articulated Credit.

Early College

The Early College department offers opportunities for students to prepare for and get a head start on college courses. With options like Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment, Running Start, Pathways, and Bridge Programs, students have the opportunity to earn college credits and begin their career pathway while in high school. We encourage you and your family to explore the option that is best for you!

Running Start Student at RVC

Running Start

Students simultaneously earn a H.S. diploma and an associate degree in the 2-year program and begin an associate degree in the 1-year program.

Summer Bridge Programs

Students participate in transitional summer programs that help them begin or continue their career pathway.

Senior Semester

Attend RVC full-time for the last semester of senior year to earn dual credit towards completing a high school diploma while beginning an associate degree.

These courses are offered at RVC campuses with students receiving both high school and college credit for college-level courses successfully completed.

Home-Schooled Students

Students receive college credit for college-level courses successfully completed at RVC; high school credit granted per high school dual credit policy.

Articulated Credit

Acquire college credit for previous high school coursework in order to facilitate an easy transition into a college program.

Dual Credit at High School

Dual Credit at High School

Students receive both high school and college credit for RVC-approved, college-equivalent courses. These courses have specific qualifying criteria and are held at the high school.

Pathways

Students follow a set “pathway” of articulated and dual credit courses that allow them to begin career exploration as early as 9th grade at their high school.

High school Math and English courses that guarantee college-level placement upon successful completion.
