Advanced Technology Center (ATC)

Rock Valley College’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is a workforce and economic development engine that helps sustain and grow the manufacturing industry in our region by providing innovative hands-on learning to prepare both RVC students and currently-employed workers for high-demand jobs with local manufacturers.

RVC's Advanced Technology Center (ATC) is a regional approach that has commitment and collaboration from regional partners that will help transform the region through education and workforce development.

This state-of-the-art, 77,000 square-foot facility is conveniently located off Business 20 in Belvidere, and houses many of RVC's manufacturing, technology, and industrial-based programs.

Overview of Programs Offered at ATC

The ATC will offer both credit and non-credit programs, including certificate programs and stackable credential models that can be completed in as few as five weeks. Please keep in mind, each program has limited seating.

Programs offered at the ATC include:

  • CNC Machining: This program delivers a customized curriculum to prepare you for a career in advanced manufacturing in thirty-two. You will learn the skills necessary to enter the manufacturing environment at an entry-level position with a solid foundation of shop math, blueprint interpretation, metrology, and CNC setup/operation skills. This program provides an entry path to a CNC career and a great foundation for anyone interested in pursuing our CNC certificate for college credits. 
     
  • Mechatronics: Mechatronics is an emerging field that blends skills in mechanical, electrical, and computer systems. Mechatronics technicians and engineering technologists use a combination of mechanical, electrical, computer, and software skills to work with smart technologies, such as robots, automated guided systems, and computer-integrated manufacturing equipment.
     
  • Truck Driver Training*: In just five weeks, you can be on the road to a new career! Our 200-hour truck driver training program combines classroom presentation with hands-on experience that leads to a Class A Commercial Driver's License. The course will provide you with the basic skills to become a safe, professional truck driver. Upon successful completion, you will be able to secure an entry-level position in the trucking industry.

  • Welding: Our welding program is one of the most comprehensive in the area. You're given the opportunity to develop skills using common, manual, and semi-automatic welding processes. Industrial safety, blueprint reading,  basic metal fabrication, and welding will prepare you for an entryentry-leveltion in welding,  construction, manufacturing and ,fabrication industries. Certificates offered include Advanced Welder and Industrial Welder.
