Rock Valley College

RVC Recycles

Rock Valley College has been heavily involved in recycling efforts for many years. We are proud to say that on average the college recycles approximately 42% of its waste stream. The RVC single-stream recycling program diverted 58.8 tons of waste from the landfill in FY-2014.

All of the following items are diverted from landfill as part of RVC's ongoing recycling efforts:

  • Paper, plastics, cans
  • Computers and peripherals
  • Ballasts, lamps
  • Carpeting
  • Batteries
  • Toner cartridges
  • Electronics
  • Construction waste*

* 75% of construction waste on the PEC remodel was recycled and diverted from landfills. Also, 20% of the new materials used in the PEC construction project were recycled materials.
