RVC seeks to provide education and training that facilitates the transition of high school students to the college level. Access for high school students to college credit offerings is an important goal of RVC and the community served by the College. Most high schools in the RVC District #511 partner with the College to offer Dual and/or Articulated Credit Agreements for high school students. These offerings help create a more comprehensive education delivery system for students to ensure a successful experience and a seamless transition into college.
HIGH SCHOOL CONNECTIONS Program Goals
1. To offer dual credit courses to qualified high school students to experience college-level courses and receive credit.
2. To ensure that dual credit courses and instructors meet all the Administrative Rules of the Illinois Community College Board, as well as satisfying the standards and requirements as approved and adopted by the Rock Valley College academic departments.
3. To provide guidance and support for quality course delivery by assignment of faculty mentors and delivery of a course orientation program.
4. To facilitate opportunities for collaboration and partnership with secondary education institutions and CEANCI.
Course Delivery Options
Opportunities for dual credit courses are available through more than one delivery option. These different options address student needs related to location, interest, and student preparation. The two methods of delivery are: 1) At the high school; or 2) At RVC.
