Call them the Road Warriors. The Golden Eagles defeated yet another top ranked opponent on the road Tuesday night, this time disposing of Madison Area Technical College, 25-21, 25-19, 23-25, 25-17. Coming into the match, MATC was ranked #2 in the NJCAA's latest poll for Division III, while RVC came in ranked #3.
Samantha Smith had 25 digs, Tailyr Negri totaled 40 assists, Kristy Bourquin had 12 kills, Lauren Habben 11 kills, and Natalie Olsen 10 kills in just two games to give the Golden Eagles a huge lift down the stretch.
So far this season, RVC has beaten Ridgewater (then ranked #3), Harper College (then ranked #4), and now MATC (then ranked #2) all on the road. They will still face conference opponents Harper and MATC at Rock Valley later this season and will meet MATC again this weekend at the Kankakee Tournament (September 18-19).
