Rock Valley College Computers and Information Systems (CIS) will be hosting a workshop on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in the Woodward Technology Center (WTC), room 1114 on RVC’s main campus (3301 North Mulford Road). Check-in will be from 9:30-9:50 a.m.
Attendees will assemble their own computer from a Raspberry Pi and other circuit boards that can be taken home after the workshop, and will also learn to code via programs like Minecraft Pi. In addition to taking home the computer they built along with any software they created on it, attendees will also earn a certificate of completion, and will take with them an understanding of what engineering, hardware, and coding have to offer. This workshop will have something for everyone from tinkerers to aspiring coders.
The workshop is appropriate for ages 7 and up. Early-bird tickets to participate in the workshop are $275 plus online ordering fees (after May 30 ticket price increases to $295). Parents and grandparents can purchase a ticket for their child or grandchild and sit with them during workshop at no extra cost. Tickets can be purchased at myrvc.org/buildit.
