Rock Valley College sophomore Jamie Mortlock has been named first team All-American for softball by the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association).
Mortlock, who primarily played first base and pitcher for the Golden Eagles, batted .526 in 34 games with nine home runs, 42 runs driven in, and 31 runs scored. Her nine round-trippers were good for fourth in the nation for NJCAA Division III. While elected to the All-American team as an infielder, Mortlock also found some success on the mound for RVC this year, finishing with a 5-8 record and a 3.89 ERA in 88 innings pitched.
She becomes just the fifth RVC softball player to earn All-American honors and the first since 2003. Mortlock was also named first team All-Conference and first team All-Region this season and was voted by her teammates as the Offensive Player of the Year for RVC.
On June 3, Mortlock picked up yet another honor when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named her to the 2009 Louisville Slugger NFCA NJCAA Division III All-American team.
As a freshman last season she also earned first team All-Region and All-Region Tournament Team honors.
