Steve Vee is taking his men’s tennis team to the national tournament once again after leading them to a top three finish nationally in seven of the last 11 years. This year he hopes his young team, comprised primarily of freshmen, will gain enough experience to make a legitimate run at a national championship next season.
Freshman, Tyler Adland, finished the season 10-1 playing first singles for the Golden Eagles. He became the sixth RVC player to win the regional for first singles in the last nine seasons.
Adland was also recently named the "Player to Watch" for the Midwest Region of junior colleges by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The honor is given to a freshman player who is expected to make an even bigger impact in his sophomore season.
The Golden Eagles won the NJCAA Division III National Championship in 2000 and 2002 under Coach Vee. The team will depart for Plano, Texas this Saturday, May 9 and play will begin on Monday, May 11.
