Music Scholarship Auditions

Rock Valley College is announcing its annual Music Scholarship Auditions for any student who will participate in one or more of the ensembles offered through the Rock Valley College Music Department during the 2015-2016 school year. The Rock Valley College Foundation will award over $30,000 in the upcoming school year to both vocal and instrumental students; awards will be available to both music majors and non-majors who participate in our ensembles.

Eligible ensembles include our jazz bands, orchestra, concert band, concert choir, chamber singers, and women's choir.  These awards are also offered to pianists interested in piano accompanying.

The auditions will be held on Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 2015 in the Performing Arts Room on the Rock Valley College campus.

Students must fill out TWO applications by May 6, 2015:

1) the Music Audition application (found at the bottom of this page)

2) the RVC Foundation's online scholarship form

Applicants will then be contacted with an assigned audition time.

You should expect to perform a selection that shows your musicianship and technical ability. The selection should last approximately 3-5 minutes in length.  Students should bring an accompanist when possible; however, if one is not available, please bring in the sheet music or 'lead sheet' for your work, if accompanied.  Recorded accompaniments are discouraged.

Students earn one semester credit hour in each of our ensembles. Scholarship recipients must be registered and satisfactorily participate in at least one ensemble or its equivalent to maintain these renewable scholarships. These scholarships are renewable each year.

If you have any additional questions, please call Paul Laprade by e-mail at p.laprade@rockvalleycollege.edu.

If you are an RVC student, this is your "s number"- the letter "s" followed by a seven digit number (ex: s1234567). If you are NOT yet an RVC student who is applying, simply skip this field.
