Transportation, distribution and logistics is the business of moving raw products and finished products from a point of origin (such as the farm or factory floor) to customers. Planes, trucks, trains, cargo ships, factories, warehouses and stores are all part of the TDL industry.
The Rock River Valley is close to highway and rail systems, and we have an international cargo/passenger airport. Those features have already attracted over ten TDL distribution and warehouse centers, including UPS, Target, BON-TON, Lowe’s, and Home Depot. More centers are expected to locate here in the future. TDL employers, however, are facing a shortage of reliable, hard-working individuals to fill many part-time and full-time positions.
This class meets 16 hours each week (4 hours/day, 4 days/week) for 8 weeks. You are expected to attend every class, be punctual, and complete homework and special projects outside of class. After completing TDL Careers Express, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement in Fundamentals of Transportation, Distribution & Logistics. You will also be a more qualified and competitive candidate for TDL jobs.
TDL Career Express students must demonstrate necessary speaking, listening comprehension, reading and writing skills. Potential students are tested and interviewed. Qualified students are then offered a space in the program. If you would like information about future testing and recruitment dates for TDL Career Express, please call the Adult Education Office at (815) 921-2001.
