Top 10 Reasons to attend RVC

Student Support
Through Educational Planning Sessions and First Year Experience programs, our skilled advisors will help you establish educational goals and develop your path for success at RVC. To do just that, we now require you to meet with an academic advisor until you reach 18 college credits. Thousands of students each year benefit from the free services offered in our Tutoring Center, Math Lab, and Writing Center - places where the learning continues outside of the classroom.

Transferable Credits
Rock Valley College is a fully accredited institution of higher learning. Work with an advisor to plan your next steps, and you can take your first two years of general education courses at RVC and transfer the credits to a four-year institution almost anywhere.  Because we're committed to your successful future, we've signed an innovative reverse transfer agreement with a local four-year institution, and we participate in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (a statewide transfer agreement).

Financial Aid Opportunities
Approximately 60% of RVC students receive financial assistance for tuition and books. This year the RVC Foundation also awarded $215,000 in scholarships. An early start is recommended, and our experienced Financial Aid staff can help you navigate the process.

Best Investment
The cost to attend RVC for two years is less than the cost for one year at a state university and about the same as one semester at a private college or university. In their working career, the average RVC student will earn $5.20 for every dollar invested, and our graduates will increase their lifetime earnings by over $400,000.*

Qualified, Experienced Faculty
Many RVC faculty are nationally recognized in their fields of study as published authors, sought-after speakers, or leaders on research projects. Our expert instructors love to teach, are engaged in learning, and make students their priority.

Latest Technology
RVC features state-of-the-art facilities from "smart" classrooms to hands-on lab opportunities in science, computers, graphic arts, automotive, aviation, healthcare, and much more. Buildings are new or being remodeled routinely to offer the highest quality facilities in our region, like our new Aviation Maintenance Educational Facility at the Greater Rockford Airport, scheduled to open August 2015.

Three Locations
Our beautiful main campus is located on the northeast side of Rockford, but we also provide the
Stenstrom Center for Career Education on Rockford's south side for both career and transfer courses and a downtown location, the Learning and Opportunity Center at 303 North Main Street. All three RVC locations offer support services, including academic advising, financial aid, and free tutoring. In addition to courses in a traditional classroom setting, RVC offers many online and hybrid classes (hybrid classes include both online and classroom instruction).

Plenty of Fun
In a ten-minute walk around campus you could see a band playing in the Student Center, the Ultimate Frisbee team tossing the disc around outside, or one of our championship teams practicing in the gym. Student clubs and activities offer valuable lessons outside of the classroom about leadership, teamwork, organization, event planning, and networking. Plus, RVC athletes compete in ten NJCAA sports and have won a combined 12 national championships, including six since 2011. Not an athlete? Come catch a game and support RVC!
